What to Avoid for Cleaning:

• Harsh Chemicals: Never use household cleaners, harsh soaps (like dish soap, which can strip natural oils), solvents, alcohol-based cleaners, or abrasive cleaners. These can dry out, discolor, or damage the leather.
• Too Much Water: While a damp cloth is okay, soaking full-grain leather can cause it to stiffen, crack, or develop water stains.
• Scrubbing: Excessive force or scrubbing can damage the leather's surface.

2. Conditioning: Keeping it Supple and Hydrated

• Why Condition? Full-grain leather, like skin, needs moisture to remain soft, supple, and to prevent it from drying out and cracking. Conditioning replenishes the natural oils.
• Frequency: The frequency depends on use, climate, and how dry the leather feels.

Application:

• Clean First: Always clean the leather thoroughly before conditioning. Dirt and residue can prevent the conditioner from absorbing properly.
• Test: Apply a tiny amount to a hidden spot and let it dry for 24 hours to check for any adverse effects (slight darkening is normal and usually fades).
• Apply Sparingly: A little goes a long way. Apply a dime-sized amount to a clean, soft cloth (microfiber is ideal).
• Circular Motion: Gently rub the conditioner into the leather in small, circular motions, ensuring even coverage.
• Allow Absorption: Let the conditioner penetrate the leather for 15-20 minutes, or as directed by the product.
• Buff Off Excess: With a clean, dry cloth, gently buff off any excess conditioner. Over-conditioning can make the leather feel sticky or too soft.

• Maintain Shape: For bags and shoes, stuff them lightly with clean, acid-free paper or bubble wrap to help them retain their original shape and prevent creasing.
